The Sweet Kings have been pretty heartbroken over the situation in New Orleans. It's incompetent to just sit back over this situation. So we decided to take matters into our own hands.
We are setting up a Hurricane Katrina Releif Festival here in Orlando in order to help raise money for the red cross. We are seriously looking to make this a gargantuan event. We are getting Channel 9, Channel 13, 104.1, O-rock 105.9, all involved with this. So far we are talking to McDonalds, Dominos, Walmart, chrome lotus tattoo, Hard Rock Cafe, maybe Orlando Auto Specialists and Wendy's to all help out with this. either to make donations for the actual event, or to donate incentives for donations to the Red Cross.
We are in the midst of talking to the people at the Florida State Fairgrounds and Tinker field so we can make this thing huge. If that doesnt work out, we are having the fest at either liquid cellar or Screamers.
We have 6 bands lined up so far, and if we get the outdoor venues, we will be getting many many more. This will be HUGE, and for a good cause. We even have the newspaper involved.
If you know of anybody that can help us out, either by volunteering efforts, business helping to make donations to Red Cross, to help with supplies, Or to give incentives for people to give donations it would be greatly appreciated.
If that's not possible, try to make it out to the event.
